CARDBOARD POLICE

The National is happening right now, and this is what the floor actually looks like from the buy side. CardCollector2 spent twelve straight hours buying at the 2026 National Sports Collectors Convention in Rosemont, Illinois, and filmed the whole run.

Why This One Matters This Week

We've covered the National three times this year from the outside — the preview in CASE #0153, the what-to-bring guide in CASE #0154, and the "did Fanatics Fest just kill it" question in CASE #0178. What we haven't had is footage from inside this year's show while it's still running. The convention runs through August 2, and this video went up while the doors were still open.

The timing is not incidental. This is the same week an Ohtani/Aaron Judge Dual Gold Logoman got pulled on the show floor, and the same week the Ohtani 1-of-1 Dual Gold Logoman sold for $11 million (CASE #0205). The National is where the hobby's biggest news is breaking right now, and a twelve-hour walkthrough is about as close as most collectors will get to being there.

The Buy-Side View Is the Useful One

Most National content is a haul video: here's what I bought, here's what I paid, look at this pull. A buying video is a different and frankly more informative genre. When someone is on the other side of the table for twelve hours, you get to watch the actual mechanics of the show — what walks up to a booth, what people think their cards are worth versus what a dealer will actually pay, which categories move and which sit.

That gap between asking price and buying price is the single most useful number in the hobby, and it almost never shows up in a price guide. Watching it get negotiated in real time across a full show day is worth more than a dozen market-recap threads.

The Endurance Angle

Twelve hours is also just an honest depiction of what the National does to people. This is a convention that runs five days across a floor big enough that dealers routinely describe not finishing a lap. The fatigue is part of the story, and it's part of why the show still functions as the hobby's annual reset button — you cannot fake having been there.

Verdict: if you're not in Rosemont this week, this is the closest thing to a floor pass. Watch it for the negotiations, not the pulls.
