CARDBOARD POLICE

The Hobby Den posted "2026 Topps Chrome x Jennie Hobby Box Opening (Unboxing & Review)" on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026. It is a product unlike anything else on the channel's recent schedule, and unlike anything this blog has covered: a Topps Chrome set built around a single musician, JENNIE of BLACKPINK.

What Topps Built

Billboard reported the set in August, when preorders opened on Aug. 20, calling it JENNIE's "first-ever collaboration with the trading card company." Its account of the product:

  • Each box holds 10 chrome cards: six base cards, two inserts and two chrome base parallels.
  • The checklist has 30 base cards, 10 Chromium Close-Ups inserts, 10 Monochrome Mementos inserts, two Ruby short prints and one Ruby super-short print.
  • Autographs come in 10 base versions, two Ruby short-print versions and one Ruby super-short-print version.
  • Relics carry fabric cut from outfits JENNIE wore on stage, including during The Ruby Experience, the five-show run supporting her solo album in Los Angeles, New York, Incheon and Paris in March 2025.
  • There is one autograph-relic, and Billboard put the odds of finding it at one in 150,000.

The base cards use photoshoot images from her solo career, and the Ruby short prints use the album's artwork, Billboard reported.

The Asterisk on the Box

The video's thumbnail shows three boxes on a red playmat printed like a basketball court. Each is dark gray, with "Jennie" in red script at the top, a Topps Chrome logo and a portrait of her with red hair. The middle box is open. A card of JENNIE in close-up stands at the back, and in front of it, set into the box's foam insert, is a small stand-up figure of her.

The bottom of each box reads "2026" and "10 CARDS*." The asterisk leads to a line of small print: "*PACKS WITH A SPECIAL INSERT MAY CONTAIN ONLY 3 CARDS."

Analysis: The box's own print says that 10 cards is the standard count, not a promise for every pack. A pack that carries a special insert can hold as few as three, so a buyer who counts fewer than 10 cards has not necessarily been shorted.

The Channel

The Hobby Den's uploads are almost all one format. Of its 15 most recent videos, from Sept. 3 to Oct. 21, 14 are box or case openings, most of them titled "Box Opening (Unboxing & Review)." The products run across sports: 2026 Topps Update and Allen & Ginter baseball, 2026 Bowman football, Panini Prizm WNBA, Topps Chrome Tennis, a Fanatics Under Wraps jersey box, plus Pokémon's 30th Anniversary boxes. The one exception is a video on a submission of more than 100 cards back from PSA.

The JENNIE box sits in the middle of that run, one day before a 2026 Panini Optic NWSL hobby box.

Analysis: The channel treats JENNIE's set the way it treats a baseball or football release: one hobby box, opened and reviewed in its standard format. For a viewer weighing this product, that is the useful part. The video shows what a single box of a music set looks like in hand, from a channel that posts a new opening every few days.

Verdict: The Hobby Den opens a hobby box of 2026 Topps Chrome x JENNIE, a 10-card box built from a 30-card base set, two insert sets, Ruby short prints, stage-worn relics and a one-in-150,000 autograph-relic. The box's own fine print says a pack with a special insert may hold only three cards. Watch the video for what came out of this one.
